Digital Gold (DGD) wallet/node is an open-source software powering the DGD Network. It performs various functions, including enforcing network rules, downloading, validating, and sharing blocks, as well as serving as a full node.
1. Download
Visit the Digital Gold Foundation page and ensure that you have established a secure connection to the server.
Go to the "Download a Wallet" section of the website and click on the download icon suitable for your operating system.
Alternatively, you can also download the wallet from DigitalGold.com
Select a download destination that you will easily remember and can access once the download is complete.
2. Setting Up your wallet
For Windows users:
Right click on downloaded .ZIP file and click "Extract all".
Select a destination then click "Extract".
Run the executable file "digitalgold-qt.exe" by double-clicking it.
After this, the installer will start, and it will guide you through the decisions you need to make about where to install the DGD wallet.
You'll be asked to select a directory to store the DGD data and your wallet. If you don’t have a specific partition or drive in mind, simply click "OK" to use the default location.
Your firewall may block DGD wallet from making outbound connections. It’s safe to allow DGD wallet to use all networks by clicking "Allow".
DGD GUI (Graphical User Interface) will begin to download the blockchain data. This step will take some time depending on your Internet connection and computer. DGD GUI will use a significant part of your connection bandwidth during the download. You can stop DGD GUI at any time by closing it; it will resume from the point where it stopped the next time you start it.
After completing the download, the installation is now finished, you can just create a new wallet or import an existing one from a backup if you have one.
Create a new wallet by clicking the button "Create a new wallet".
Choose a name for your new wallet.
You can also encrypt it for extra security (You can check how to safeguard your wallet and make backups in this guide here)
Your wallet/node is now ready to be used!
Autostart:
Your wallet will automatically start when you power on your operating system and begin functioning as a full node. It will continue running in the background, using minimal internet bandwidth and processing power. We recommend keeping it this way, as it allows you to participate in the network and contribute to building the largest decentralized financial network in the universe.
However, if you prefer not to have it autostart with your OS, simply follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Options
Uncheck the option “Start Digital Gold on system login” then click "OK"
Now you are all set, you can now send/receive DGD and use all the wallet features.
Follow this guide to learn how to send and receive DGD.
If you want to shut down the wallet go to File > Exit, or by using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Q.
You should always shut down your wallet using this method to avoid unnecessary errors!
